Our Mission . . . .
The mission of IODE, a Canadian women's charitable organization, is to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and those in need through educational, social service and citizenship programs.
What do the letters IODE stand for?
IODE was founded in 1900 by Margaret Polson Murray as Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire. IODE, as the organization is now known, is a Canadian woman's volunteer organization. It is an organization, that over the years, has changed to meet the changing needs of all Canadians from coast to coast, with a particular focus on children and their needs.
Membership . . . .
There are approximately 8,200 IODE members working in 383 primary chapters all across Canada. These members raise approximately $3,000.000.00 each year and reinvest it in Canada's children, families, and communities.
In Ontario the IODE has over 4,000 members in 171 chapters and the Hon. Bryan l. Cathcart Chapter in Corunna, Ontario is but one of these chapters that strives to serve the community with IODE "good works" projects.

The badge is the emblem of membership in the IODE. The seven pointed star on the dark blue background has at its center the Union Jack, showing our pride that Canada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The surrounding white circle embodying the name, IODE, in gold lettering is securely clasped at the base and symbolizes the unitynof purpose of all members. The crown surrounding the badge represents loyalty to the Queen of Canada.
IODE CELEBRATES 100 YEARS
On February 13, 2000 the IODE celebrated its centennial. On this date, 100 years ago, the IODE was founded. To commemorate this 100th Anniversary the National Chapter is spear heading a drive to collect an additional $200,000.00 in donations for a program to alleviate child abuse and neglect.
