Glencoe & District Snowmobile Club

The History of the Glencoe & District Snowmobile Club

In the early 1970's, it was apparent that the sport of snowmobiling was becoming very popular in Glencoe. As a result, concerns arose from area property owners about snowmobiles trespassing on their land. Another concern was safety issues while snowmobiling.

In 1974 a meeting was held with over 80 snowmobilers in attendance, along with 2 members of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC). It was decided that would be in Glencoe’s advantage if they to form an organized club and a member club of the OFSC.

On July 26. 1976, the Glencoe & District Snowmobile Club was officially incorporated as a club and member of the OFSC..

Today, the GDSC remains a vibrant club in the community. It survives with the hardworking, volunteering individuals who strive to make the trail safe and fun to ride.
