This is the title of our CODE
OF BEHAVIOUR which outlines expectations for students and consequences of poor
behaviour. (Copies are available upon request from the office.) We work as a TEAM
to ensure a safe, positive learning environment for students. The key word is RESPECT.
RESPECT:
- of SELF
- of OTHERS
- of PROPERTY
- of AUTHORITY
- for the ENVIRONMENT
Together Everyone Achieves More
- Treat others as you would like to be treated - students will not harass or intimidate
others, verbally or physically.
- Hands Off Policy - to ensure everyone's safety, a hands off - no touch policy will be
followed.
- Students will not bring items such as knives, matches or other potentially dangerous
items to school.
- Students are expected to line up quietly outside and move through the halls in a quiet
respectful manner.
- Throwing and kicking of stones, snow and ice will not be allowed for safety reasons.
- Gum is not to be brought to school.
- The use of profane or foul language will not be permitted.
- School dress should be clean, tasteful, and appropriate to an educational setting.
- Hats will not be worn inside the school.
Consequences of Improper Conduct
It is our hope that students will demonstrate self-control and respect for others at
all times. However, there are occasions when staff must intervene when school rules
are broken. Disciplinary actions will vary accordingly to the individual situation.
Sample consequences to be considered on an individual basis include:
- counselling with a teacher
- loss of one recess or more
- interview wil the vice-principal/principal
- telephone to a parent/guardian or an interview
- a meaningful writing exercise
- extra duties such as yard clean-up
- academic assignments at recess or lunch
- loss of participation in special school or extra curricular activities
- in-school suspension (removal from class)
- out-of-school suspension (up to 20 days)
